MelterMan First Demo: Nov 4th

MelterMan is currently in a pre-alpha phase where we are producing demos and playable versions of the game.  The past few weeks we have been cleaning up game mechanics, prepping the project to grow into a full-scale game and assuring that our design is fun and versatile.

We will be posting a demo for the game on Nov 4th and hopefully continually updating it as time goes on.  Alpha is due by the end of the semester (before the Holiday break), which should include all of our game mechanics as well as a few levels for people to play.

We took on many new team members, as we inherited them from projects that were dissolved after prototyping.  We are one of five teams that will be making their final projects from this point until the end of the academic year.  It has been a stressful month, as we were cramming everything into a prototype and then not knowing if we would be continuing to work on the project after that!

My responsibility in the team is basically to oversee production and assign tasks to everyone, but also take my share of the programming load since we are a bit light on programmers.  Since the idea started from my pen and paper, I feel a responsibility to do everything I can to keep us on track and make sure everyone is pulling their load.  So far, everything has gone well and I believe we are working at a steady, quick rate.

Our team will be seeking to apply for development kits for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, so we are keeping a multiple-platform release in mind and definitely developing around that.  Depending on how much support we get from the school, the public and our team members, we may continue to work on the game throughout summer or beyond if we feel like it could grow larger than the time we can afford during these two semesters.

We will have to see where it goes.  But, the first playable demo will be available on November 4th.  I will definitely post it here, and post about continual updates to the project, as well as new versions of the demo when they become available.
